Golf fans will hear a familiar voice next week for The Open Championship.

Nick Faldo, who retired as a color commentator on CBS’ golf coverage last year, will be joining NBC’s and USA Network’s broadcasts of the year’s fourth major, according to a report from Sports Business Journal.

The report says that “details are not yet finalized” but that Faldo, 65, is expected to join play-by-play broadcaster Mike Tirico and analyst Paul Azinger in the announcing mix, just as he did last year when The Open Championship was at St. Andrew’s.

Faldo won The Open Championship three times, and he’s also a three-time Masters champion.

SBJ also reported that former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo and golf analyst Billy Ray Brown would host an all-access show on Peacock during the Thursday and Friday coverage of the tournament.

Last June, Faldo stunningly announced that he was stepping away from CBS after 16 years as a broadcaster, citing a desire to spend more time with his family and focusing on businesses in spirits and golf course design.

Faldo then had an emotional sign-off from CBS in August.

“I was in a boat in Ireland, and they gave me a call and said, ‘How would you like to sit next to Jim Nantz?’ and I literally fell out the boat, I really did. That was 2006, and here we are 16 years later,” Faldo said at the time.

“Thanks to all the crew,” Faldo continued. “As I affectionately and respectfully call you the workers, they put the pictures out, we do the rattling, we have an easy job. Thank you all.”

Faldo was replaced as a color commentator on CBS by Trevor Immelman.

The Open Championship tees off on Thursday at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club in England.
