Local reports in Thailand revealed that the body of a German real estate tycoon, Hans Peter Mack, who went missing last week, was discovered dismembered and hidden inside a freezer in a rental home.

Mack, aged 62, had vanished on July 4 after failing to return home from a business meeting, according to the Bangkok Post.

The gruesome discovery was made on Monday, July 10 in a Pattaya home rented by a German associate of Mack, as reported by the Pattaya News.

Following confirmation by Banglamung officials, it was revealed that the chopped-up remains found in trashed bags and stuffed in the freezer belonged to Mack. Police were led to the house after surveillance footage showed the same freezer being transported by foreign nationals in a black pick-up truck, according to the Pattaya News.

According to a neighbor, a German man known as Olaf and a German woman with a disability who had been living in the home for around three months were associates of Mack. The authorities have taken them in for questioning, along with a third German, and suspect the involvement of Thai nationals in the crime, as per the report.

Before the horrific discovery, Mack’s car was found abandoned in a parking lot with traces of coolant or bleach on its seats, dashboard, steering wheel, and gearbox, as revealed by Police Major Gen. Theerachai Chamnanmor, the investigative chief of the Provincial Police Region 2 to the Bangkok Post.

“There was intention to destroy evidence and the case indicates that Mr. Hans-Peter Ralter Mack’s disappearance was suspicious,” Pol Maj Gen Theerachai said.

The family of Mack had offered a reward of three million baht, equivalent to about $85,900, for any information leading to his safe return.

Mack’s wife, Piraya Boonmak, disclosed that he had missed their scheduled lunch and subsequently sent a text mentioning a business client at 10 p.m., which was uncharacteristic of him during their five-year marriage, as reported by Thai PBS World.
